Ancora fra le vecchie esiste il mondo degli " spiriti" che appaiono per intimorire o per far male.
Vede lo spirito sempre una sola persona; ma Se questa è unita ad un'altra per mezzo della mano, in questo caso lo spirito si fa vedere a due.
Regnano ancora le "streghe" che possono storpiare o affogare i bambini. Anche a questo la donna pone il rimedio e cosi mette dietro la porta della casa la scopa, il ferro di cavallo, un sacchettino di migho.
Ogni volta che si pronunzia il nome "STREGA" per uscirne illesi, bisogna dire sempre la frase: "Masséra é sabate" cioè il giorno del Signore "stasera é sabato". Il canto della gallina, il canto del gallo di sera, il sognare frutti non adatti al tempo, il canto della civetta, l'uscire l'acqua all'oliveto dei Tuzii, sono auspici di cattivi eventi.
Il muovere le molle o la catena del focolare è causa di non dar quiete ai defunti della casa.
Specialmente in campagna dilaga la credenza delle "Fatture" che avrebbero il potere di far ammalare uno istantaneamente; suscitare odi fra marito e moglie; fare allontanare due fidanzati. Si ricorre al mago od alla fattucchiera e con polveri, false orazioni e con altri simili espedienti, si crede che tutto il male e le liti siano passati.
Vi sono poi altre superstizioni mistico-magico-religiose che si riferiscono all'agricoltura . Il giorno della semina non si può dare il fuoco: la spiga verrebbe piena del nero "tizzone" il carbonchio.

l'idea del miracolo della fecondità è proprio la gallina, che ogni giorno dona un uovo al contadino per cui la sacertà della edera sarebbe rimasta più specificamente riferita a questo volatile.
Con la nuova mentalità tutto sta passando e le suddette false credenze rimarranno solo un puro ricordo.
